The Asia Safe Abortion Partnership had a fabulous 2012 thanks to your support! We are happy to share a few our achievements with you.

1. Medical abortion hotlines run by our partners in Pakistan and Indonesia enjoyed another year’s successful run!

2. This May, we co-founded and launched the International Campaign for Women’s Right to Safe Abortion along with the ICMA and other international organizations. Take a look at the endorsements through our crowdsourcing map, and join us by signing up for the campaign.

3. This June we gave our website a new look by including hotline numbers, detailed country profiles, information on medical abortion and advocacy videos. Please do visit us at www.asap-asia.org

4. You can also find regular updates from us on social media. Thanks to your support our Facebook page has over 200 followers, and our Twitter page over 400.

5. We’ve written about abortion laws and access to abortion across Asia on our blog. We’ve featured a few wonderful guest bloggers like Prof. Ayse Akin of Turkey, and interviewed experts like Dr. Manisha Gupte and Dr. Abhijit Das to bring to you accurate and relevant information on reproductive choices and rights.

6. This August, we conducted a capacity building workshop for mid-level providers from Nepal, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in collaboration with Ipas Nepal.

7. On Sept. 26, Nepal observed the 10th anniversary of decriminalization of abortion. We interviewed Dr. Anand Tamang, Adv. Sapana Malla and Dr. Indira Basnett on the history of abortion in Nepal.

8. On Sept. 28, for the Global Day of Action for Safe Abortion we conducted a global Tweetathon with support from Ipas, WGNRR and other international organizations!

9. In early November, we conducted our first advocacy institute for young activists around Asia. Our participants will now launch country level advocacy programs!
