It’s three days to V-day, and we hope you will be rising with feminists around the world in the dance of protest! One Billion People around the world will be rising with you. But before we go on to celebrate OBR, let’s take a moment to ask ourselves if a woman’s body has become a site for control and violence. If so, how?
tweetfest
To discuss this, and to talk about reproductive choices in Asia, join us tomorrow, Feb 12, for a tweetfest between 2-4 p.m. IST . Joining us will be Bell Bajao and TARSHI, both of whom are renowned for their work in the fields of gender-based violence and comprehensive sexuality education.

To make the discussions more interesting, we will be taking turns in moderating the sessions. Here’s our schedule. We hope you will join us and tweet with the hashtag #WhosInControl

2:00 -2:40 p.m. IST- Bell Bajao on Gender Based Violence
2:40 – 3:20p.m. IST – ASAP on Sexual and Reproductive Rights
3:20- 4:00 p.m. IST – TARSHI on Comprehensive Sex Education

ASAP’s session will walk you through the abortion laws around Asia, the challenges, the achievements, the barriers. Sex. Contraception. Pregnancy. Abortion. Parenthood. Does a woman make these choices on her own? Is she free to decide when and if she wants to have children? How do social mores, religious teaching, national laws and medical advancements affect these choices? How do international covenants help? Do countries that are signatory to these covenants take women’s choices into consideration? Are these choices understood as women’s rights?

We also want to know what you think! So join us tomorrow and tweet with us! Let us rise on social media with us!!
