The Fellowship Programme will build\u00a0capacities of individual women lawyers in feminist legal practice; to undertake work at the primary\u00a0level, and provide them the ability to be a resource for the communities of women seeking to\u00a0access their human rights and redress the violations of the same.<\/p>\n<p>The programme will strengthen\u00a0access to justice for women in the region, by promoting feminist legal advocacy, through\u00a0enhancing feminist legal practice and intervention by and for women in the region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The specific objectives of the programme are as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To enable access to justice by strengthening the human resource pool within\u00a0communities, including support to individuals who can facilitate these processes.<\/li>\n<li>To build a collective voice to advocate claims and justice<\/li>\n<li>To promote learning and exchange between women lawyers in South Asia, mainly\u00a0between the countries of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, by providing\u00a0support to a small nucleus of women lawyers, working in primary courts.<\/li>\n<li>To enhance and promote the shared understanding of law and legislation pertaining to\u00a0women\u2019s human rights in the region and its importance in promoting women\u2019s rights\u00a0and social justice.<\/li>\n<li>To build collaborative spaces with feminist lawyers who promote women\u2019s human\u00a0rights and social justice in the region.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Each of the identified fellows will be connected with an organized civil society group, with the\u00a0capacity of intervening to ensure various elements are fulfilled, which includes the capacity to\u00a0access and link with legal case-work, access to precedents, case preparations etc. The programme\u00a0will also identify acclaimed women lawyers working at the national level to mentor some of the\u00a0identified fellows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Criteria and guidelines for application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The call is open to women lawyers, women human rights defenders with para-legal training\u00a0from Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka who have at least two years\u00a0experience of working on women\u2019s rights issues through a feminist legal praxis.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The programme must be focused and located in small towns, at the primary\/lower court\u00a0level.<\/li>\n<li>The amount of the fellowship will be up to USD 4000, for a period of upto one year.<\/li>\n<li>The application should follow the fellowship grant application and budget format given.<\/li>\n<li>A complete CV, detailing the applicant\u2019s qualifications and experience must be attached\u00a0with the application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Applications should be addressed and sent by email to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Programme Officer<br \/>\nSouth Asia Women\u2019s Fund<br \/>\nEmail id: sawfrgp@sawf.info<\/p>\n<p>If an electronic application is not possible, please post an application to:<\/p>\n<p>South Asia Women\u2019s Fund<br \/>\n16\/6A Mohideen Terrace,\u00a0Ward Place<br \/>\nColombo 7,\u00a0Sri Lanka<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>31\u00a0st\u00a0January 2013<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Apart from English, SAWF\u00a0will receive applications in all the regional languages.<br \/>\n<\/em><em><b>The application form and the criteria is on the website <\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sawf.info\/\"><b>www.sawf.info<\/b><\/a><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The names of successful applicants\u00a0will be posted on SAWF\u2019s website by 28th\u00a0February 2013.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SAWF is pleased to announce the launch of its Legal Fellowship Programme in its five countries of\u00a0operation in the region \u2013 Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
