\"\"<\/a>Last week, Savita Halappanavar, a 31-year old dentist of Indian origin died after she was denied an abortion at an Irish hospital. She was in pain from a uterine infection, caused by damage to \u00a0the membranes around the fetus (thus reducing tremendously the chance of the fetus surviving or growing to term) but was told that terminating the 17-week pregnancy when the fetus still had a faint heartbeat would go against Catholic values as pracitsed\/understood by the attending doctors . \u00a0Her death rattled the world, because it could have been easily prevented.<\/p>\n

As an immediate reaction to her death, there have been protests and vigils, demanding justice for women like Savita. These article below \u00a0are particularly worth sharing.<\/p>\n
